Introduction
This site was created for my students, of course, although all visitors are welcome. I hope you find this site useful even though it is deliberately basic. As the links to the right and below indicate, you will find on this site the following items:
- Transcripts for the short documentary videos on course
topics. The videos—and our discussion—will concern such topics
as human rights, Third World development, postwar U.S. foreign
policy, militarization, and the environmental impact of
globalization: Video
Transcripts
- Some of my work--a selection of recently published articles.
These might be worth a look if the topics interest you: Scholarly Essays
- Some links to grassroots-based organizations and alternative media sources
on the Internet for alternative cultural and political research and analysis:
- for resources in general, Links: Global;
- and for resources that are either based in or primarily concerned with Japan, Links: Japan
- Some recommended readings, including both (1) a general list emphasizing
critical, non-elite perspectives; and (2) an informal American Studies list
based on suggestions by Howard Zinn: Selected
Readings
As well, on the same page, links to two vital fact sheets from Food First (each link will open in a new window):
- Information on the Cultural Anthropology Research Lab
@ SIT: Research Lab.
- Finally, something new! My lecture weblog w/ news and updates for my students: DGM's Weblog.
